Employment Program

Under its Employment Program, CILGC offers consumers resources and training to improve their employability skills. Consumers can participate in workshops on resume writing, career exploration, and interviewing skills. 

 

Employment is a critical part of community inclusion for both people with disabilities and older adults. When these groups don’t have opportunities to work, we all miss out. For youth with disabilities, a smooth transition from education to employment is essential. Securing and maintaining employment helps many people to achieve independence in their communities, but there are often barriers to accessing meaningful and integrated employment.


Employment in integrated settings at competitive wages offers a direct pathway to greater independence and self-sufficiency. Employers have a more extensive and more diverse talent pool when hiring. And as a nation, we benefit when people with disabilities and older adults have the chance to contribute as colleagues, business owners, and taxpayers.

  • Ticket to Work

    At CILGC, consumers receiving Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits have the opportunity to work with our employment specialist on job placement, benefits counseling, and Ticket to Work orientation. Any consumer seeking employment assistance, including veterans, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) consumers, and youth with disabilities, can contact CILB at (239) 260-4575 to register for upcoming employment workshops or Ticket to Work orientations.

  • What is the Ticket to Work Program?

    The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in returning to work or gaining training and education so they can work for the first time. The Ticket to Work Program is part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 – legislation designed to remove many barriers that previously influenced people’s decisions about going to work because of the concerns over losing healthcare coverage. Ticket to Work aims to increase Social Security Disability beneficiaries’ opportunities and choices in employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR), and other support services from CIL, public and private providers, employers, and other organizations.

  • About Ticket to Work

    The Ticket to Work Program provides most people receiving Social Security benefits (beneficiaries) more choices for employment services. Under the program, the Social Security Administration (SSA) issues tickets to eligible beneficiaries who can assign those tickets to an Employment Network (EN) of their choice to obtain vocational rehabilitation services, employment services, or other support services necessary to achieve a vocational (work) goal. If they accept the ticket, the EN will coordinate and provide appropriate services to help the beneficiary find training, education, and gain or regain and maintain employment.

  • Who is Eligible for the Ticket Program?

    The Ticket to Work Program is available to most Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities who meet specific criteria. The Social Security Administration notifies beneficiaries eligible to participate in the Ticket to Work Program by issuing them a Ticket. Beneficiaries receiving a Ticket are referred to as Ticket holders. More than 11 million Ticket holders are eligible to participate in this nationwide program, and many are already working today.
